International Film Festival
Manhattanville College’s second annual International Film Festival will feature seven provocative films about the personal struggles of women striving to fulfill dreams of motherhood, education and personal growth, and whose lives are challenged by war, domestic violence, patriarchy and other issues in Senegal, Iran, Spain, China, Brazil, India and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The festival, whose theme this year is “Women in a Global Context: Then and Now,” is free of charge. Westchester and Fairfield County residents are welcome. It will be held at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY from Monday, March 17- Thursday, April 10, 2014. The screenings will take place in the Berman Students’ Center Theater at 7 p.m. A discussion of each film, led by a Manhattanville faculty member, will follow each showing.
Films include: March 17, English-Vinglish (India); March 19, Moolaade (Senegal); March 25, Zuzu Angel (Brazil); March 27, Grbavica (Bosnia-Herzegovina); March 31, Fireworks Wednesday (Iran); April 2, Manhattanville College Student Short Films; April 8, Take My Eyes (Spain) and April 10, Story of Qui Ju (China).
