Voices

A three-part exhibition exhibiting facets of contemporary voice through folk art, community voices and film.

FOLK ART: In this extraordinary exhibition, folk art is represented as an artisanal lens through which to convey our histories and cultural traditions as well as to uniquely portray our current perceptions of our community. Ruth Geneslaw carves Basswood for her astute social and political commentaries while Pat Slaven employs traditional piecing in her contemporary quiltmaking.

COMMUNITY: Our South Gallery will contain voices from new and emerging talent from Yonkers, with examples of street art, expressive fine art and spoken word.

FILM: Our North Gallery will show short films, as an introduction to a new monthly series of film screenings to be held third fridays at the gallery, and to our partnership with the Yonkers Film Festival.
