Opening Reception: Said in Color at The Gallery at Yellow Studio

The Gallery at Yellow Studio invites you to the opening reception of Said in Color, an exhibition of paintings and wall relief sculptures by Alissa Leigh and Giselle Landers, on Saturday, April 25, from 4 to 6pm. Both artists will be in attendance. Wine and light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

Said in Color brings together two abstract painters in a conversation about color as visual language. Leigh, based in Bedford, NY, builds richly layered mixed media surfaces from a loosely drawn grid, incorporating asemic writing and gestural marks drawn from years in New York City’s art and street culture. Landers, based in Greenwich, CT, is a former graphic designer whose abstract paintings and wall relief sculptures move from thumbnail sketch through digital process before reaching canvas, where design precision and intuitive mark-making meet. Both artists draw color from the same unexpected everyday sources: textiles, product packaging, and movie posters. What unites them is a shared preoccupation with the push and pull between structure and spontaneity, approached from completely opposite directions.

The exhibition continues through May 24, 2026.

The Gallery at Yellow Studio is located at Yellow Monkey Village, 792 Route 35, Cross River, NY 10518.

Gallery hours: Wednesday and Thursday 11am to 5pm, Friday 11am to 6pm, Saturday 11am to 5pm, Sunday 12 to 4pm.
