Experience a unique animated anthology created by autistic artists that explores the lived experience of autism through five imaginative short films. Presented in an animatic, storyboard-style format, Autistic Mode highlights sensory experiences, special interests, creativity, and the challenges of navigating the social world. Blending humor, music, gaming culture, and sci-fi storytelling, the film offers an authentic and engaging look at neurodivergent perspectives and celebrates what the creators call “autistic cool.”
HARDMODE, by Nix Busby, a JRPG inspired adventure following a hero on a quest to conquer their anxieties.
HONEYJACK, by Charles Moss, a musical comedy romp about an oddball bear and a misfit girl scout.
TOONED UP, by Malcolm Thomas, a Tex Avery inspired story about a cartoon nut who comes face to face with the real world.
CANVAS, by Gabrielle Teaford, an autobiographical music video about the hardships and triumphs in the life of an artist.
DREAMCATCHERS, by Bob Clark, a feature length sci-fi detective story where psychic agents dive into dreams to investigate conspiracies and do battle with Nightmares.
New Rochelle librarian and film historian Chris Poggiali will introduce the film and will be joined for a post-screening discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Bob Clark.
