The Capa Space hosts photographer Richard Sandler at the opening reception for “The Eyes of the City: Photographs by Richard Sandler”.

Between 1977 and 2001, Richard Sandler documented a New York City in transformation, one not yet mediated by screens, where encounters with strangers were unavoidable and unfiltered. His camera captures the uncomfortable proximities of urban life. Sandler’s work invites us to see ourselves seeing others, and to reckon with what that gaze contains.
