Opening Reception: “The Ground Glass – 50th Anniversary Exhibition” – at Chroma Gallery
Reception date: Saturday, November 15, 3-7 p.m.
Show dates: November 11 – December 7
This November, Chroma Fine Art Gallery presents The Ground Glass – 50th Anniversary Exhibition, a striking survey of contemporary photography by members of one of the region’s most accomplished photographic collectives.
The show features a dynamic range of images that reflect the breadth and vitality of fine art photography today—from intimate studies of light and form to expansive landscapes and abstract compositions. Each photograph invites viewers to consider not only what is seen, but how perception, emotion, and memory shape what is revealed through the lens. “The diversity of work in this exhibition is remarkable,” says curator Rita Baunok. “Each artist brings a unique visual language—some grounded in classical technique, others pushing the boundaries of digital experimentation—but all united by a deep commitment to photographic expression.”
Founded in 1975 by Renata Rainer, The Ground Glass has long championed photography as both art and inquiry, encouraging its members to explore the medium’s evolving possibilities. In this special anniversary show, that spirit of curiosity and innovation is fully on display.
The Ground Glass – 50th Anniversary Exhibition is on view November 11 – December 7, 2025 at Chroma Fine Art Gallery in Katonah. Join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, November 15, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
