Downtown Music Presents: Svetlana Gorokhovich and Irena Portenko, piano

One Piano, Four Hands.

Svetlana Gorokhovich is an internationally recognized pianist and prolific recording musician. Her performances include major concert halls in the United States, Europe and Asia. She is a winner of the International Bartok-Kabalevsky Piano Competition and the IBLA International Competition in Italy.

Named to a “select circle” of pianists by The New York Times, Irena Portenko is a sought-after concert pianist, music educator, and mentor. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, Dr. Portenko made her debut performing Haydn’s Keyboard Concerto in D Major with the Ukrainian National Orchestra at the age of eight. Her career as a soloist has included a distinguished array of performances including playing concerti of both Schumann and Brahms, in one evening, accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Their downtown music program will include virtuosic showpieces for piano four hands.

This concert is made possible, in part, with the generous support of Nancy Goodman, Robert Heath, and Lois Laemle.
