NEA Jazz Master Paquito D’Rivera Quintet
It’s been 60 years since saxophonist/clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera became a teenaged featured soloist with Cuba’s National Symphony, leading to international stardom as co-founder with Chucho Valdes of the innovative Afro-Cuban jazz fusion group Irakere.
He’s gone on to be featured on over 80 albums, win 14 Grammys, become an NEA Jazz Master and much more. Still incredibly vital, his reunion recording with Chucho, I Missed You Too!, was the 2023 Latin Grammy Best Album winner.
