Culture Quest Featuring Peter Gordon

Culture Quest is a virtual series featuring professionals from all disciplines: writing, visual arts, and performing arts. A 45-minute presentation is followed by a Q & A session. All talks will spring from the theme “How I Got Here”. This event will take place on Zoom. Register in advance for this meeting here.

This  installment features Peter Gordon, American saxophonist, clarinetist, pianist, and experimental composer renowned for blending a wide range of musical genres. Drawing from influences as diverse as jazz, disco, funk, rock, opera, classical, and world music, Gordon’s work is characterized by his innovative and genre-defying approach. A pioneer of New York’s downtown music scene in the late 1970s and 80s, Gordon has collaborated with a wide array of artists across disciplines, pushing the boundaries of conventional music forms. His compositions often fuse rhythmic grooves with complex harmonies, creating a sound that is both energetic and richly textured. As a featured artist in the Culture Quest series, Gordon’s multifaceted artistry highlights his unique ability to cross traditional musical divides, making him a visionary in contemporary experimental music.
