Dover String Quartet with Roberto Diaz, viola

Hailed as one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine, the Dover Quartet’s profound relationship with Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music will be on display. According to The New Yorker, “few young American ensembles are as exciting and accomplished as the Dover Quartet.” The quartet’s members, Joel Link, violin; Bryan Lee, violin; Julianne Lee, viola and Camden Shaw, cello, will be joined by Curtis President and CEO Roberto Díaz. an internationally-renowned violist.

The Dover will perform the Quartet in D major, K. 575, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Quartet in F major, Op. 96 (“American”) by Antonin Dvořák and, with Díaz, the String Quintet in B-flat major, Op. 87 by Felix Mendelssohn.

It’s not unusual for the quartet to explore repertoire with other artists. When they appeared at Carnegie Hall last April, the concert notes said the Dover has a “reputation for collaborations that highlight the unique artistry of both the ensemble and today’s leading soloists.”

A list of their awards includes the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award, grand and first prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and a sweep of all prizes at the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition.

You and your friends are invited to meet the artists at a post-concert tea reception.
