The 48th Annual Ground Glass Photography Exhibition
The 48th Annual Ground Glass Photography Exhibition
at The Rye Arts Center
The Ground Glass Annual Members Show is a noteworthy Photography Exhibit juried this year by a highly regarded gallerist and fine art photography consultant, Debra Klomp Ching. The exhibit includes a wide range of photographic imagery – dramatic landscapes, compelling portraits, dynamic street photography and abstract work – all reflecting the varied experiences and styles of the members.
“The 35 photographs selected represent a truly inspiring range of visions. In this grouping you will witness humor, wonderful observations of everyday life, creative depictions of the overlooked, careful use of juxtapositions, a clear passion for tradition, and a very good use of scopic perception”, comments Ms. Klomp Ching in her Juror’s Statement.
Debra Klomp Ching is co-owner of The KlompChing Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, specializing in the exhibition and sale of fine art photography. In addition to her role as a consultant to collectors,
Ms. Klomp Ching often serves as a judge of photography exhibits and as a respected reviewer at select portfolio review events. An educator with 25 years experience, she launched a series of training webinars in 2020 about the business of making, exhibiting and selling fine art photographs.
Ms. Klomp Ching notes, “I was particularly enamored by a number of photographs that are a wonderful illustration of a photographer’s eye, and the ability to turn the mundane into something special.” About portraits she observed, “For me, portraits are successful either because the subject is of interest, or because the photographer has made them interesting.” And about photographic styles, “Formalism in photography is a personal passion, as is photography that forces the viewer to scrutinize – a number of the exhibited images demonstrate these qualities in unique ways.”
In closing she commented : “I came away feeling this is an amazingly talented group, each of the members with a very unique voice.”
