This talk will provide a general overview of historic designation on the federal, state and local levels with a particular focus on Westchester. The economic, civic and ecological benefits of historic preservation are well documented. Yet, important and often beloved structures and landscapes continue to be lost throughout the county. How can Westchester communities ensure their character, identity and their very history? Barbara Davis, Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society and the New Rochelle City Historian, will address these issues and more.
