George and Ruth: Songs and Letters of the Spanish Civil War
Music | Photography | Theater
A performance which tells the true story of George and Ruth Watt, newlyweds separated by war. The story is told in their words, adapted from letters they wrote to each other while George served as a volunteer in the Lincoln Battalion in Spain. The performance, directed by Katie Schmidt Feder and featuring Nick Nazario, Emrigael Alpern and musician/vocalist Albi Gorn, reveals the cultural context of the time with folksongs of the Spanish Civil War. This performance accompanies the current exhibition, This is Robert Capa!, which includes photos from the Spanish Civil War.
