NEA Jazz Master George Coleman Quartet
A brilliant improviser, bluesy bopper and adventurist harmonizer, NEA Jazz Master saxophonist George Coleman accompanied nearly every mid-20th century Jazz superstar – most famously, Miles Davis in his groundbreaking early ’60s band.
Miles called George’s deeply soulful playing nearly perfect, adding “He was a hell of a musician.” He still is, and over the years, this unassuming jazz titan has consistently moved ever closer toward perfection. His new album Live At Smalls drops in May.
