Paul Taylor Dance Company

One of the most exciting, innovative, and delightful dance companies in the entire world.” The New York Times

Taylor is back with three awe-inspiring works that showcase the athleticism, fearlessness, and unparalleled range of the Taylor Company.

For the first time outside of NYC, the Company will perform Taylor Commissioned Choreographer Amy Hall Garner’s Somewhere in the Middle, an adrenaline-fueled dance set to the music of Wynton Marsalis, Count Basie, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, and other Big Band favorites. An audience favorite from the Company’s 2022 Lincoln Center season, The New York Times says it’s “as bubbly as a warm bath: arms fly into the air, dancers roll across the floor and then lift off again, smiling recklessly as if there were no tomorrow. It’s like jazz day at the beach.”

Also appearing is one of Paul Taylor’s masterworks, Piazzolla Caldera, a sizzling look at the culture of tango as men and women confront each other in a night of passion and lust.

Closing the program is gorgeous Brandenburgs – last seen at Purchase 25 years ago. Elegant and virtuosic, this is choreographic grandeur at its finest, married flawlessly within the joyous atmosphere of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos.

Dancemaker Paul Taylor (1930-2018) first presented his choreography with five other dancers in Manhattan on May 30, 1954.  That modest performance marked the beginning of a profound, uninterrupted creative output that shaped the future of American modern dance and continues to this day.
