Join us for a Benefit Reading of Yasmina Reza’s classic comedy “ART!”
The reading will feature Broadway veterans Ray Anthony Thomas, Jordan Lage, and Trent Dawson and runs approximately 90 minutes. Complimentary wine and light refreshments will be offered and a discussion with the performers will take place afterwards.
“ART ” is a “lacerating comedy [that} dissects the bonds among three friends when one mocks another for buying an expensive all-white contemporary painting, and the third is stuck in the uncomfortable middle. “Art” — the word itself is self-consciously in quotation marks in the title, though it is rarely rendered that way — won prestigious prizes in Paris and London, as well as the best play Tony Award on Broadway, and has enjoyed the kind of global success rare for a modern script. This reading will serve as a fundraiser for KCS’s Artistic Production Design for their Fall production of Noel Coward’s classic comedy Private Lives. Any money raised through this event will help design, build, and dress the set, as well as provide wardrobe for the actors.
