SummerArts: Virtual Edition
JUNE, 2020 CLASS OFFERINGS
Based on our SummerArts model, we are offering individual classes throughout the months of June and July in art, music, dance, and theater. We have a vast team of experienced teaching artists representing many artistic disciplines, all of whom are ready to inspire your children.
During June we are offering “after school” time slots for two different age groups (rising 3rd-5th graders and rising 6th-9th graders). Each age group will have the option of two different 45-minute classes per week (descriptions below). In July we will offer many more classes in both morning and afternoon time slots.
If there is a class that you would love to see in our offerings, for these age groups or other age groups [adults included!], please let us know and we will do our best to find the perfect teaching artist to accommodate your idea. You can contact [email protected]
Although we don’t know what August will bring, our teaching artists are creating systems to push the boundaries of online classes so we will be able to deliver a satisfying SummerArts experience in whatever format may be required.
Stay well, stay healthy, and stay creative!

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Animals on the Move!
Come lift your spirits and get moving! Throughout the week students will experiment with animal expression through stories, sounds, yoga poses, and games. Flit like a butterfly, dash like an antelope, slither like a snake, skitter like a chipmunk, prowl like a lion, and more! While we’re all at home, we will have fun traveling to the jungle, forest, and ocean to explore the movement life of your favorite animals. The class will be the perfect mix of imagination, creative expression, collaboration, and movement!
Teaching Artist: Mary Ford-Sussman

Drawing & Collage
In this fun, creative class, students will develop their drawing skills while exploring lots of new ways to make art. Throughout the week we’ll draw still-lifes of objects around us, portraits, and even invent our own creatures. Then we’ll add to our drawings with layers of collage. Designed with remote learning in mind, all projects will be tailormade to be done independently by children, with minimal mess. This class will be the perfect way to enrich your child’s time at home, while giving you some time to work on other projects.

Creating Characters & Spinning Stories
A workshop for creative kids who love to tell stories. Join this 5-day workshop where you are the narrator, the mastermind, the magician! We begin with a painting of a person. You’ll decide who, where, and why that person is in the drawing. You’ll create the voice of that person and you’ll decide what happens to them next! Together we’ll look at maps, hear poems, and create new worlds from our imaginations. Anything can happen here! All you need is a notebook and a pen to capture your ideas and draw your own pictures. Write your own magical tale this summer!
