Luminism Art Show

FORWARD Contemporary, an art gallery located right in the heart of Katonah presents the artwork of two former Fox Lane High School graduates. The Luminism Art Show marks the introduction of local Bedford NY, artist Samantha Kaplan.

The rich art culture of the Bedford – Katonah area comes into focus with FORWARD’s introduction to their newest artist as this young and vibrant gallery continues to take flight. Samantha Kapan, of Bedford Hills NY, joins Bedford native Jeffrey Terreson for a Fox Lane HS pairing. Both artists are life- long Bedford residents where they both maintain art studios in Bedford as well.

Kaplan earned her BFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Her work has been exhibited in the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art in New Paltz, the Bruce Museum in Greenwich CT, and at the Katonah Museum of Art located in Katonah NY.

Kaplan’s main influence is nature, through her abstract lens she is able to capture the ethereal beauty and energy of nature. Making her viewers see a different part of nature that many of us overlook. Her use of luminism combined with abstract forms gives her work a grand sense of depth, inviting viewers to drift into her paintings.

Terreson’s work will feature his monochrome paintings from his Equus series as well as his Departure series that has been juried into museum shows from the curators of MoMA, Boston MFA, MCA Denver and Museum of Art’s and Design.
