In Her Own Words: A Play Reading
From The Kennedy Center to Lincoln Center, Beth Blatt’s work has been performed across US, Asia and Europe. Please join us for a special event featuring a live reading of her newest play In Her Own Words – Women Refugee Stories on Stage. The play is devised of thoughtfully interpreted interviews conducted with 6 refugee women from all around the globe.

A musical pre-show will begin at *12:30 including original songs inspired by refugees and other uplifting stories, followed by the play reading at 1pm. A brief Q&A with Beth and the cast will follow the presentation.
Beth Blatt has won the Director’s Choice Award (NYMF), the National Art Song competition, a NAMT grant, the Klinsky Award (2econd Stage), the GBH Lyricist Award (the O’Neill), a Jonathan Larson grant, a Dramatists’ Guild fellowship. The Mistress Cycle was produced in New York, London, twice in Chicago and other theatres in the US; Island of the Blue Dolphins (TheatreWorks USA) toured the US. She has received commissions from The Village Theatre, TheatreWorks USA and Women for Women International. She is founder of Hope Sings, the for-benefit music business whose mission is to harness the power of song/story to support women. Songs include the anthem for UN Women, the first such song ever for a United Nations agency.
