Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Steven Isserlis, cello
PAC audience favorite Orpheus Chamber Orchestra creates extraordinary musical experiences, performing music at the highest level, challenging artistic boundaries, and inspiring the public.
Music by the tragically short-lived Hans Rott gives a tantalizing taste of a rising star admired by Bruckner and Mahler; British cellist Steven Isserlis, whose playing “is as passionate as it poetical” (The Sunday Times) navigates a dizzying spectrum of unabashed emotions in C.P.E. Bach’s Cello Concerto in A Major.
Finally, Schubert commingles anguish and sublime beauty in the string quartet based on his song Death and the Maiden, which Orpheus plays in the lush arrangement by Mahler.
