Tour “Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing” with Ted Barrow

Join Assistant Curator Ted Barrow for a  tour of our special exhibition in which he’ll examine the form and content of Lin’s site-specific installations, inspired by the Hudson River.

Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing features new works by the artist and draws from Lin’s commitment to environmental issues and the ongoing effects of climate change. The works take over the Museum inside and out, and include: “Bamboo Hudson,” 2018 3D drawing of the river created from hundreds of bamboo reeds installed in the Museum’s Courtyard, Pin River-Hudson Watershed,” 2018 a recreation of the Hudson from the Adirondacks to NY Harbor in the Lobby;  Glass River,” 2018 with more than 50,000  industrial glass marbles flowing across the gallery floors, walls, and ceilings; “The Hudson Bight,” 2018 a map made of wire mesh recreating the Hudson Canyon seafloor that will cascade through the Museum’s Atrium; a series of new drawings; and “What is Missing,” a room-size, multi-channel video installation.
