The Way it Flows – Bernstein on Life
Part of BernsteinBash, our season-opening festival celebrating the Leonard Bernstein Centennial. Always reflecting, observing, hearing, and creating, Bernstein’s thoughts were most indelibly conveyed through the union of words and music. This elegant, illuminating program, guided by longtime Bernstein musical associate and former Caramoor CEO Michael Barrett, and pianist and Copland House Artistic and Executive Director Michael Boriskin, vividly captures the iconic maestro’s eloquence, erudition, and sometimes-offbeat wit. The concert features Bernstein’s last major composition, Arias and Barcarolles, about the joys and complexities of married life. Hosted by guest speaker David Denby, best-selling author and longtime film critic of The New Yorker.
