Intro to Contemporary Art Quilts

There are many different approaches to making an art quilt. In this one-day workshop we will explore some of the different techniques used to create a non-traditional quilt top. This workshop is for both beginners and advanced quilters who want to leave the traditional block quilt behind. We will talk about design and composition and the student will be introduced to cutting and sewing curves, using freezer paper, figuring out how to create seam-lines and working with traditional shapes in a nontraditional way. The student must bring a sewing machine and know how to use it.
