Arts in the Afternoon—Deciphering the Code: Family Roots and Artistic Journey

|

Guest Curator Bartholomew F. Bland converses with Neo-Victorian artist Camille Eskell, who was raised in New York as “the third girl in a turbulent Iraqi Jewish family from Bombay.” Eskell will discuss how these influences have had an impact on both her perceptions and her work.

This program complements the Museum’s current exhibition, The Neo-Victorians: Contemporary Artists Revive Gilded-Age Glamour. #HRMNeoVictorians examines the contemporary revival of interest in ornamental lushness and dedication to craft that once defined the style of the Victorian era, with works of art from more than 20 contemporary artists that conceal pointed social commentary beneath seductive surface techniques.

Free with Museum admission.
