Dancing in the Park Dance Class for Children

|

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council will present Dancing in the Park, an exceptional opportunity for Yonkers children ages 4 through 10, on Saturday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m. at Untermyer Park.
Starting at 3:00 pm, Isadora Duncan Dancers Artistic Director Lori Belilove and company members dressed in Greek, Roman, and Renaissance-themed tunics and drapery will greet children ages 4-10 and offer dancing lessons in the lower gardens. Stories from Greek mythology will be the thematic reference points, starting with Odysseus and the four winds, to bouncy runs from the Atalanta story, Pandora’s box, the labors of Hercules, Artemis and the hunt, and friendship dances. Some of the children participating in the classes may be given the opportunity to perform on stage in the company’s opening number at 7:30 that evening.
The lessons will take place in the lower gardens, the very location where the Isadora Duncan Dancers performed in the 1930s; this definitely is another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council program!
Interested parents must preregister their children; all participants must have signed parental release forms. Registration information can be obtained at at www.untermyer.com, by calling the UPAC Artsline at 914-375-3435 or emailing us at [email protected].
Parents are expected to remain on the park premises during the lesson.
