ARTIST STATEMENT:
My paintings are about people. They are mostly portraits of family and friends and others I’ve met along the way. I seem drawn to portraits, perhaps in an effort to reveal the human condition and discover what connects us. All paintings, to some extent, reveal me and as such, are self- portraits.
At an early age I fell in love with painting portraits of close friends and family. I developed this love in a more structured and educational environment at Music and Art high school as well as at C.C.N.Y. where I was an art major under Robert Borgotta. After graduating, I received an Art Fellowship that enabled me to attend the Art Students’ League where I studied with Sidney Gross.
Subsequently, I received a Bachelor of Arts from Yale School Of Art and Architecture where I was a painting major, studying with Neil Welliver.
More recently, I studied at the Westchester Art Workshop with Andrew Lattimore and I also took drawing classes and a painting course with David Fox.
I have been recognized with various awards at local Westchester Art Shows including winning First Prize in portraiture at the 90th Greenwich Juried Art Show.
The exhibit may be viewed Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30am to 9pm; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. Saturdays 9:30am to 5:30pm and Sundays 1:00 to 5:00pm. For info call the Library at 914/835-0324 or see www.harrisonpl.org.
