Hudson Valley Music Club February Mostly Morning Concert
On Monday, February 27, at 1:00 PM, the Hudson Valley Music Club will present a concert in its Mostly Morning Series featuring the Camarata Quartet, whose members include Kathleen Thomson, violin, Christine Doney, violin, Denise Cridge, viola, and Elizabeth Sadewhite, cello. The program will feature music with a Hungarian influence, in honor of the memory of Hungarian-born violinist Gabriel Banat, who passed away in July, 2016, and who was a long-time resident of Irvington and Dobbs Ferry. Banat was a renowned violinist who performed with many orchestras and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, which he joined in 1970. The program will include Haydn’s Quartet in D Major, opus 20 #4, excerpts from Glazunov’s Novelettes opus 15, and the Quartet #1 in E flat Major opus 4 by Leo Weiner, who was Banat’s professor at the Budapest Conservatory.
