James Richardson & Sophie Cabot Black

James Richardson and Sophie Cabot Black will read from their most recent poetry collections and talk about their long and vibrant careers as poets. James Richardson was awarded the 2011 Jackson Poetry Prize. His collections include By the Numbers: Poems and Aphorisms, which was a finalist for the 2010 National Book Award and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 2010, Interglacial: New and Selected Poems and Aphorisms (2004), which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Sophie Cabot Black’s collections of poetry include The Misunderstanding of Nature (1994), which won the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award, and The Descent (2004), which won the Connecticut Book Award. Black’s poetry has been anthologized in Best American Poetry. Her honors include the Grolier Poetry Prize and the Poetry Society of America’s John Masefield Memorial Award.
