Legal Issues in Visual Art, Photography and Sculpture


When can an artist use someone’s likeness in an artwork? What is a “model release” and when is it needed? What is “appropriation art” and how does it relate to copyright? When may an artist incorporate another’s work intor their art? Does the law place any restrictions on editions of prints or sculptures?

If you are interested in learning the answers to these and related questions, please join us for an informative discussion of legal issues that visual artists encounter in their pratice, including copyright, provacy issues and model releases, and regulations of multiples, editions and prints. The panel also will comment on some recent, high-profile fair use and appropriation art decisions.

After the discussion, you’ll want to join panelist for a Q&A and a wine and cheese networking reception. The event is geared to an audience of working artists, but all are welcome.
