Spanning the Centuries, Hoff-Barthelson Music School’s week-long Festival celebrating music composed between 1750 and 1900, will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, through Sunday, March 19, 2018. The Festival, featuring music of great Germanic composers – Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms – as well as masters from other lands, includes 9 student recitals, a faculty concert by the School’s Cello Virtuosi, a lecture on the life and works of Beethoven, presented by Michael Boriskin, Artistic Director of the Copland House, and instrumental and choral ensemble concerts.

Hoff-Barthelson's Cello Virtuosi Performs works by Brahms and Schumann at Spanning the Centuries Festival

Hoff-Barthelson Music School is proud to present the HB Cello Virtuosi, featuring members of the School’s gifted cello faculty. Cellists Michael Finckel, Nicole Johnson, Erich Schoen-René and Peter Seidenberg along with pianists Hélène Jeanney and Eileen Buck perform a concert of works by Brahms and Schumann. Included on the program are Brahms’ Cello Sonata No. 1, e minor, Opus 38 and Cello Sonata No. 2 in F Major, Opus 99; and Schumann’s Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102 and Fantasy Pieces, Op. 73. The concert takes place Wednesday, March 14 at 7:30 pm in the School’s auditorium. Admission is free of charge. An event not to be missed!

English Country Dancing

Have you ever enjoyed watching the characters dance in Jane Austin's films?  Well you too could learn with grace and elegance to do all these wonderful english country dances.  There is live music that accompanies every dance. We dance almost every Thursday at the Church in the Highland (Bryant & Grandview Ave.) in White Plains, NY. Beginners are warmly welcomed at all Thursday dances--come with or without a partner.  First Thursday dance FREE for newcomers.  Wear comfortable, informal clothing, and bring low-heeled, soft soled shoes.
