Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Company is recognized as one of the most innovative and powerful forces in the dance-theatre world.

On the program, Lance: Pretty aka The Escape Artist, which tells an often tragic and sometimes outrageously humorous narrative based on the life of Bill T Jones’ nephew Lance. Lance battles with his personal demons – drugs and excess – on the battlefield of the nightlife and underworld of the late 80s and early 90s club culture and sex trade. Composer Nick Hallett and baritone Matthew Gamble accompany the stunning dancers with a delirious mixture of lullabies, rhythm and blues, and house music.

Lance is a new work commissioned by the American Dance Festival, Dancers’ Workshop and the Executive Director’s Fund at The Joyce Theatre Foundation.
