Symphony of Westchester’s 25th Concert Season Continues with Young Artists Showcase

New Rochelle, NY, February 6, 2023 –The Symphony of Westchester (SOW) continues its 25rd concert season with the help of some bright young stars. On Sunday, February 12, at 3pm, the group’s annual Young Artists Showcase will be held at Iona University.

The concert will showcase the six winners of SOW’s 8th annual concerto competition, which was open to students from elementary through high school. We had a distinguished panel of adjudicators who decided on the top six contestants. All students who audition received written comments on various aspects of their playing ability.

Symphony of Westchester is proud to announce the six winners, listed below. Each will perform a movement of a Baroque or early Classical concerto during the February 12 concert.

“These young musicians provide a hope for the future of the performing arts,” says Symphony of Westchester Founder and Artistic Director Barry Charles Hoffman. “It is an honor to celebrate their achievements and enjoy a showcase of their incredible talents.”

Students were able to audition as vocalists or instrumentalists, with the first place winner receiving a cash award of $500, second place winning $250 and third place winning $100.

Barry Charles Hoffman is available for interviews to speak about the company’s 25th season, its history of bringing world-class music to Westchester, and its goals for the future.

All of the Symphony of Westchester’s concerts take place at Iona University’s Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium at 715 North Ave., New Rochelle.

The Symphony of Westchester is a professional orchestra of from 60 – 70 musicians giving a series of four separate concerts at Iona College in New Rochelle.
