Rehabilitation of the Arts (RTA), begins 2024 working with two new facilities and launching a new program to assist incarcerated people who are reentering society. The organization introduces the arts as a tool to help incarcerated people develop skills needed to succeed in the larger community.

Beginning in January, RTA will provide its core workshops at Collins Correctional Facility in Western, NY and Wallkill Correctional Facility in Wallkill, NY.

In February, the organization will unveil its new “Reimagining Myself” initiative, which addresses the social and emotional challenges that incarcerated individuals often face when released from prison. The success of the program was evident when the facilities that implemented the program’s pilot – Woodbourne and Wallkill Correctional Facilities – requested its return for new residents getting ready for release. The organization’s hope is that it will be able to expand beyond the current facilities.
