Organization Overview

The Westchester Chordsmen is a men's A Cappella chorus with approximately 75 Members. Men of any age, faith, race or nationality are welcome to join. We have performed at major venues around the United States and around the world. Our repertoire extends beyond our barbershop roots and now includes Broadway show-tunes, doo-wop, traditional, gospel, and contemporary songs arranged in four-part harmony for tenor lead, baritone, and bass singers. Members come from all over Westchester County/Western Connecticut and Long Island, ranging in age from 24 to 97. Since our founding in 1953, the chorus has served our community through song: - Once a year in the fall we sponsor a Youth A Capella festival that brings together groups from high schools in Westchester and Fairfield CT. - Twice a year we offer a program of six free group singing lessons. Men of all singing abilities are welcome to participate and improve their singing skills. Through the use of paid social media, we reach a broad audience - including majority-minority communities in our area. - Each year we provide a $2,500 scholarship to a local student who is planning to pursue a music major in college. - Around Valentine’s Day, we send quartets to sing love songs at homes, restaurants and businesses around the county and produce virtual Singing Valentines for recipients worldwide. - We provide holiday concerts to the residents of hospitals, senior facilities and rehabilitation centers throughout the county. We perform at tree lighting ceremonies and other community events for a number of the towns in the area. - Twice a year we hold local concerts which draw hundreds of attendees. We have participated in fund-raising drives for local churches and organizations and are available for hire for public and private events. - Annually we publish Overtones, our in-house magazine that gives local merchants a low cost way to reach an attractive audience of potential customers.
