Artist Statement

Artist George Mutschler was born in New Rochelle, New York, on February 23rd 1983.  From early on it was evident that he had a strong passion and desire for creating.  As a teenager his creative potential really began to take form as he began to excel in the arts.   He graduated from New Rochelle High School in 2001 where he was awarded several achievements in the arts but his artistic endeavors were just beginning. From 2001- 2005 he attended Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where he studied under Disney Illustrator Peter Emmerich, photo realist Kam Mak, and Marvel comic illustrator Dave Devries among many others. He graduated from F.I.T. Magna Cum Laude in May of 2005 with a B.F.A. degree in Illustration. Throughout his college career George Mutschler was awarded the Ralph Lauren Scholarship of Academic Excellence as well as an annual grant in the arts from The Leopold Schepp Foundation. Georgeâ??s training is the best of both worlds, classical as well as digital mediums allowing him to keep up with the times without losing any artistic integrity.  His own perspective of the world is translated in his work through his subject matter, line quality and his keen attention to light and shadow. Georgeâ??s style of painting and drawing reflects his artistic influences, which include John Singer Sergeant, Paul Rubens, Norman Rockwell, Ralph Steadman, H.R. Giger, Chuck Close, and Johannes Vermeer. His love for creativity is not just confined to his art; he also is an independent music producer working with various artists over the past five years which has allowed him to not only to capture people's interest of art through their eyes but also their ears.
