Artist Statement

M Quinn received her BFA in Furniture Design at Rhode Island School of Design after studying Visual Arts and Women Studies on Long Island, and went on to work as an independent metal fabricator in New York.. Her current body of work plays with the underlying core themes found within the genre of science fiction. Her work reflect her feelings of interest and apprehension about the constant technological advancements that compete for our attention and acceptance in todays world. Industrial materials and applications are coupled with organic accents to create functional objects that seem to have an existence all their own.   Currently, M Quinn resides in NY but works throughout New England and the rest of the US. You may even catch some of her handy work outside of the U.S. in places such as San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.   She is the owner/operator/designer of Quinnessential Fabrication & Design and also works as a part time instructor at The Steel Yard a Providence, RI based non-profit. Here she teaches adult courses in the art of metal fabrication and welding.   In the past M Quinn has worked as a Project Coordinator and Design Mentor at Artists For Humanity a Boston, MA based non-profit. She continues to offer private mentorships in her spare time as she feels that teaching and making go hand in hand, both complimenting and supporting each others growth.
