Artist Statement

I am currently working on a series of paintings which interpret and abstract textures, colors and patterns found in nature.  The inspiration for these works are photos taken while on hikes or traveling to various parts of the world.

Educational Background

I have a permanent New York State Teaching Certification in Art in addition to BFA and MFA degrees.  I have taken classes at the Art Student's League, School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute.  Recently, I completed a plein air workshop at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. My art classes stress creativity as well as critical thinking skills.  I have over 20 years of full time teaching experience including 15 years with disadvantaged and at-risk youth at Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY.   I have worked with all age groups from preschool to adult.

Teaching Artist Experience

I am a teaching artist for ArtsWestchester and have conducted residencies at Hope’s Door Shelter in Pleasantville, NY and a Saturday program for developmentally disabled youth at Leake and Watts in Yonkers, NY.  Currently, I am teaching classes at the Concordia Conservatory at Concordia College.  I am co-founder of HikingandArt and have led plein air workshops for adults in the Southwest, combining art with outdoor adventure.
