Artist Statement

I have a studio at 181 Westchester Ave. in Port Chester, NY, suite 300E,  and show work by appointment. Currently I am exhibiting at MSB gallery, NYU Langone Medical Center, 550 First Avenue, NY, NY until April 23, 2015.  This show titled The Climate Alarm Through Art was inspired by a trip I took to Patagonia where I witnessed the Glaciers.  The collages and watercolors I painted after the trip have been a new direction for me. One line of successful sales for me has been a series of limited edition prints and notecards of the Sound Shore area including Rye's Playland, Rye Town Park, and the Shenorock Shore Club, and Rye Golf.   My fine art images in watercolor are of marine, garden, landscape, architectural and figurative subjects.  My style is  colorful, and lyrical. My work is in many private and public collections. I have a B.A. from Mills College (1971) and an M.F.A. from American University (1986). I teach art at the continuing education level and was a docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 17 years.  I have had numerous group and solo shows since 1980, and have won many awards. I show annually with the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Arts Club at the National Arts Club in NYC and at the Salmagundi Art Club in NY. View samples of my work on www.hollymeekerrom.com
