Artist Statement
My artworks are nonrepresentational self-portraits that speak to the sometimes unpredictable and unrecognizable human condition. I develop figure-ground relationships by building in layers of color and shape in drawings, paintings and printmaking. The biomorphic forms play with references to internal structures of the body and the alien looking creatures of the deep sea. The abstract creatures serve as the main characters in my pieces and describe my experience metaphorically.
