Artist Statement

Clarinetist Daniel Padmos completed a Master’s Degree in Music Performance at the University of Michigan, where he studied with Chad Burrow and Daniel Gilbert. Michigan presented him with the opportunity to play with the Detroit Civic Youth Orchestra as a mentor and to take master classes with Dr. Julianne Kirk of the Crane School of Music and Julia Heinen, Professor of Music at California State University. Aside from his classical studies he was also an active member in the UMich Creative Arts Orchestra, a large improvising ensemble, where he had the opportunity to work with the likes of Mark Kirschenmann, Ed Sarath, Douglas Ewart, Karl Berger, Roman Stolyar, and the Chicago Underground Duo comprised of Rob Mazurek and Chad Taylor. Daniel received his Bachelor’s in Music Performance at New York University, where he studied with Esther Lamneck, a leading performer in the electro-acoustic new music field, and Larry Guy, chair of Pedagogy for the International Clarinet Association. Studying chamber music at NYU, Daniel worked closely with chamber music coaches Matt Sullivan and Suzanne Gilchrest. Some highlights from his time in NY include performances at Juilliard’s Paul Hall, the Swedish Church of New York, the Tank, ISSUE Project Room, Monkey Town, and the streets of Chelsea for Make Music New York.  Daniel has also played with the Lake George Music Festival Symphony Orchestra, Project Opera of Manhattan, the Gilbert and Sullivan Orchestra (Michigan branch), The Eastern Festival Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlantic Music Festival. His favorite shows were those with Izzi Ramkissoon and the Electric Eel Multimedia Ensemble, which focused on Electro-acoustic music, improvisation and crowd interaction. Daniel most recently appeared as a festival artist with the Lake George Music Festival where he performed in various chamber and orchestral settings.
