Heidi Eckman Silverstein After moving around the country as a young child due to her father’s job in the motion picture industry, Heidi’s family finally settled in Greenwich, Connecticut. She attended Greenwich High School, which nurtured her strong interest in art and began her professional career as a graphic designer after graduating from Lafayette College in 1979 where she studied English and Studio Art. Heidi began her career in magazine publishing at Vogue magazine where she was the editorial art assistant to the legendary Alexander Lieberman, Creative Director of Condé Nast Publications. During the day, she would prepare magazine layouts and assist in the production of major art publications of Mr. Liberman’s paintings and sculpture. In the evenings, Heidi continued to study photography and graphic design at the School of Visual Arts under the tutelage of Milton Glazer, one of the most celebrated graphic designers in the United States. After a nearly thirty year career in publishing at magazines including Architectural Digest, Mademoiselle, Bride’s, Country Living and The Oprah Magazine, during which she married and raised two children in New York City and Larchmont, Heidi was able to finally focus on her true passion -- photography. Heidi’s graphic design background is evident in her work that is often composed and framed as if it were to appear in a magazine feature or cover. Her images are bold and colorful whether she is photographing nearby Playland or some remote villages of Africa. Heidi also is the co-founder and owner of the garden design and interior decorating firm, Clairvoyé Design LLC where her photography skills come full circle in providing decorative art for her clients and her designs provide inspiration for her photography. Always drawn to the water, Heidi lives in Larchmont with her husband and two children and recharges her creative energies when she frequents their beach house in Southampton, New York.
