Untermyer Performing Arts Council’s World Fest 2019

Four Ballets In One Exciting Evening Of Dance.

Saturday, July 13th 2019 at Untermyer Park

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council will present Four Ballets in One Exciting Evening of Dance, performed by perennial Yonkers audience favorite The Connecticut Ballet, on Saturday, July 13th  at Untermyer Park.

Our program will include two world premieres by Marden Ramos (to music by Japanese artist, Kodomo) and Joseph Locarro’s ‘Now & Then’ to music by singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt. In addition, we will present a revival of Jahain Clark’s mesmerizing ‘Pearls’ to music by Tuu and Transglobal Underground, and Auguste Bournonville’s 19th century ‘La Ventana Pas de Trois.’Brett

Founded by Artistic Director Brett Raphael, Connecticut Ballet is a nationally recognized, professional dance company currently celebrating its 38th anniversary season. It currently has over 120 works in its repertoire, including eight full-lengths and over two dozen commissioned ballets. Connecticut Ballet is headquartered in Stamford and Hartford and performs statewide and across the New York metro region. In addition to full-scale classical ballet productions, Connecticut Ballet’s Center for Dance Education offers a comprehensive educational program which includes school assemblies, outreach classes at residential treatment facilities, schools and community centers and a Trainee Program for pre-professional ballet dancers.

This celebration of dance is another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council program under the stars!

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is an all-volunteer group that brings diverse, professional programs to the people of Yonkers and beyond.  Formed more than 40 years ago, we have brought free entertainment to Untermyer Park each one of those years.

This program, done in cooperation with Mayor Mike Spano and the Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, was made possible by ArtsWestchester with support from the Westchester County Government and the City of Yonkers.  The Empire City Casino, Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins, Senator Shelley Mayer and our many generous supporters provide additional support for this program.

To ensure accessibility and welcome the broadest public audience, all UPAC events are free and open to everyone.

In keeping with UPAC’s “WorldFest 2014” theme, this summer’s series includes performances representing nations and regions from around the world including Italy, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Korea…to name a few. See the full schedule online at www.untermyer.org.

In addition to its popular free summer performance series at Untermyer Park, a new program entitled “UPAC on the Road” was recently launched, with support from Arts Westchester to reach new communities and partner with a variety of neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations.

Now celebrating its 39th year, UPAC continues to grow and seek new ways to serve the residents of Yonkers and the surrounding region. The motto of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council can be summed up with three “E’s”…enlighten, educate and entertain.
