First Annual Queen City of the Sound International Jazz Festival October 9th

The first annual Queen City of the Sound International Jazz Festival will take plac ein New Rochelle on Saturday, October 9th12 from 12 Noon to 5 pm at Ruby Dee Park.  Invited artists include Louis Hayes and Cannonball Legacy Band, Bobby Sanabria, Nonet Brazilian Jazz Ensemble, GJC All Star Female Band and Rocky Middleton Jazz Ensemble.

Co-sponsored by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts,  this event has been created by Global Jazz Community in partnership with the City of New Rochelle.

Global Jazz Community is an organization dedicated to the presentation, understanding and preservation of jazz music. Through jazz music they promote the beauty and power of artistic creativity, cultural diversity, and human spirituality while honoring the legacy of this uniquely indigenous, African- American art form. The mission is to: Welcome and entertain the fans, patrons, and supporters. Pay tribute to the musical pioneers. Enlighten and educate new audiences. Engage and revitalize local communities and businesses for growth and prosperity.

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts mission is to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts and the public\’s interest and participation therein. NRCA has been in existence for nearly 40 years — it was created by a resolution adopted by the New Rochelle City Council on April 8, 1975.
