Are you an artist using stitchery, macramé and weaving, integrating shards of pottery, found objects and recyclables, bottle caps and shells of the beach into your complex tapestries?

Then this is a call to you!!!

In addressing the use of hand crafting to reflect on cultural diversity, regional craft and environmental issues we look to a history spanning millennia, from the feather co/paintings of Peru, to the contemporary works of El Anatsui, to the computer detritus integrated by Moffet Takadiwa in his keyboard beading, to the constructs of Leonardo Drew or Liza Lew.  Shells embedded into weavings, rubies and gems into medieval tapestry, hair for embroidery, recycled wool for warmth: there is a world to explore, a language to decode.

The enormity and disparateness of culture is integrated into the
warp and woof of the artist

REBIRTH PROJECT II

Bringing the arts and nature together.

Because of COVID, live performances were cancelled. Using a hybrid approach, we filmed and edited the piece. @ https://www.studiotheaterinexile.com

Bibianna Matheis, photographer, Jo-Ann Brody, sculptor, Poet Gold, poet and performer, Mara Mills, director, Jeremy Gratt, composer, and Miranda Runyon, dancer, and choreographer, came together. That relationship between human and  nature was the seed that brought The Rebirth Project to life. Add Susan Obrant’s costuming and the work is complete.

Humans and trees have an intimate connection. We climb their branches when we are young and sit in their shade when we are old. We make love underneath them and hide behind their trunks when we are sad. We fall asleep to the lullaby of their leaves.
