Another free program presented by the Untermyer Performing Arts Council!

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council will present Back to the Garden 1969 at 7 pm on July 3rd at Untermyer Park, an amazing trip back to the days of Woodstock and the Age of Aquarius! Untermyer Park is located at 945 North Broadway, Yonkers.

Back to the Garden 1969, an outstanding group of versatile singers and musicians, have come together not only to celebrate the music of Woodstock, but also to celebrate the time of peace, love and music.  BTTG 1969 recreates the classic rock we associate with Woodstock, while paying tribute to the artists who made Woodstock memorable.  Music from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sly and the Family Stone and more will fill the air! This celebration of the era of peace and love is sure to be another “don’t miss” Untermyer Performing Arts Council event!

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council (UPAC) was formed in 1976 to promote the appreciation of the performing arts in Yonkers and beyond. UPAC’s mission was to foster and sponsor performing arts events at the historic Untermyer Park and other venues in Yonkers. UPAC is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that relies on public grants and private donations. To ensure accessibility and welcome the broadest public audience, all UPAC events are free and open to everyone.

In keeping with UPAC’s “WorldFest 2014” theme, this summer’s series includes performances representing nations and regions from around the world including Italy, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Korea…to name a few. See the full schedule online at www.untermyer.org.

In addition to its popular free summer performance series at Untermyer Park, a new program entitled “UPAC on the Road” was recently launched, with support from Arts Westchester to reach new communities and partner with a variety of neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations.

Now celebrating its 39th year, UPAC continues to grow and seek new ways to serve the residents of Yonkers and the surrounding region. The motto of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council can be summed up with three “E’s”…enlighten, educate and entertain.
