Painters On Location at The Rye Arts Center

Get ready, the artists are coming! And they’re not only painting the town, but the parks, the beaches, the landmarks, and more. The Rye Arts Center’s Painters On Location is a biennial event in which dozens of artists from throughout the Northeast paint scenes of the Sound Shore region in a plein-air paint-out.

First presented in 2001, Painters On Location has quickly become a local tradition, celebrating our community through art. Over the years, hundreds of paintings have been created and sold, each immortalizing beloved landmarks throughout the area.

Artists will set up their easels on Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14. Some favorite locations include Rye Playland, Purchase Street, the Marshlands, and local clubs. The event is rain or shine.

On Saturday evening, enjoy a free reception at The Rye Arts Center followed by a live auction of the newly painted art works. Additional works by the participating artists will be on view starting Tuesday, September 3 in The Rye Arts Center’s gallery. These paintings will be available in a silent auction closing shortly after the live auction.

Between the live and silent auctions more than 70 paintings will be sold. If you are a collector or interested in finding beautiful and local art to fill your home, this is a great opportunity to meet the artists and build a personal connection to their work. Proceeds will benefit The Rye Arts Center’s extensive outreach programs.

Painters On Location is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts and by ArtsWestchester with funds from Westchester County government.
