News Brief: Westchester Children’s Chorus Expands to Northern Westchester
Beginning in early January, the Westchester Children’s Chorus (WCChorus) will extend its services to young vocalists in Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties. Auditions for these up-county ensembles will take place on January 9 at First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown Heights.
The group carefully places singers into its five ensembles based on their age and skill level. A new ensemble is tailored specifically for male-identifying students whose voices are in the process of changing. Members of WCChorus showcase their talent in two concerts each year, in addition to community events.
In its dedicated to providing access to choral education and performance opportunities to all children regardless of financial limitations, the Chorus provides scholarships based on financial need.
Chorus members who are accepted into the ensembles should be available at the scheduled rehearsal time – Tuesday afternoons at 4:30-6pm – from January through May, with optional rehearsals during winter and spring break.
