Summit Music Festival Hones New Talent, Offers Public Performances

What began as a small summer camp has since become a music festival that offers extensive chamber music and instrumental training to pre-professional musicians from around the world. Participants from more than 20 countries develop a student-faculty collaboration in an intensive mentoring program. They also build networking opportunities with established musicians.

The Summit Music Festival’s 27th season, which takes place at Manhattanville College in Purchase, offers more than 20 performances, including student and faculty concerts, master classes and more. Two all-student orchestras will perform during the final weekend: the Chamber Orchestra on August 11 and The Festival Orchestra on August 12. The festival also offers a schedule of special events by faculty and guest artists that are open to the public, which are followed by a reception at which guests can mingle with festival staff, musicians and students. Guests are invited to an evening of works by Debussy and Chopin featuring pianist Pavel Nersessian, world-renowned violin virtuoso Aaron Rosand and more.
