Yonkers Arts Weekend Returns on May 6 & 7
The fourth annual Yonkers Arts Weekend will continue the City’s aim of celebrating its growing arts community. During the weekend of May 6 and 7, hundreds of local, regional and international artists will perform and exhibit throughout the City, particularly in four areas of key cultural activity. A new perk of this year’s festivities will be free admission to Hudson River Museum, which will also host a Kite Festival and family-friendly workshops. In the Carpet Mills Arts District, YoHo Artists will open their studios for the fourteenth year, inspiring its visitors to connect with its 50+ artists and observe as they create their masterpieces. Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy free tours of Untermyer Park and Gardens, which will also present a fashion show on Sunday featuring work by Project Runway season six winner Irina Shabayeva. The Downtown Yonkers Waterfront District will feature live mural painting, pop-up galleries, performances and more. Sarah Lawrence College will offer a theatre production of Little Pea, and a creative play program at CURB. Free bus transportation will allow people to travel between festival locations with ease, aiding in the discovery of artistic treasures throughout the City. Other participating organizations include Blue Door Art Center, Yonkers Pottery, Urban Studio Unbound and more. For more info, visit: yonkersartsweekend.com.
