Artist Statement

In an age that too often demands mastery of a single genre, Satish refuses to be pigeonholed. He  works in equal facility  in painting, printmaking and sculpture in three media - stone, metal and found-object. His personal styles are constantly evolving; they contain imagery of lush and luminescent nudes; visionary landscapes; or purely abstract compositions. Trained originally as a painter and printmaker, Satish taught in all media, including 3D work and ceramics, at Riverdale Country School for 37 years, where he was the Visual Arts Department Head. He now teaches part-time at School of the Holy Child in Rye. He is known for his large scale marble, limestone and alabaster pieces as well as for his unique paintings. Satish was on the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Gallery and was a founding Board Member of Art on Main Street in Yonkers. He is available to teach adult classes in painting, printmaking or sculpture.
